Alfred Health Radiation Oncology is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced grade 4 year 5 Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist for Part Time (51 hours per fortnight) fixed term (until 11th September 2020) employment to backfill a partial secondment, based primarily at the Alfred campus.

The Department:
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) provides radiotherapy for all adult malignancies, including significant prostate brachytherapy implant services, stereotactic radiosurgery, IMRT and Total Body Irradiation. It has two sites, one at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, and the other at Latrobe Regional Hospital, Traralgon. AHRO is currently equipped with three Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, and two dual energy Varian Clinacs. Most units have Exactrac and/or AlignRT patient position monitoring. HDR brachytherapy treatment is administered with needle position verification and repositioning as required, and there are two SXRT units, two 4DCT scanners and seed programs at both sites.

  • To have completed a postgraduate degree in Medical Physics to at least Masters level, as approved by ACPSEM, from a tertiary institution in Australia or equivalent.

  • An in-depthknowledge of the ACPSEM TEAP training program for Radiation Oncology Medical Physics registrars including training and reporting requirements.

  • Have demonstrated ability to produce work of a high professional and scientific standard.

  • A demonstrated capability for good report writing including scientific papers or a postgraduate thesis.

  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team including Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, Biomedical engineers, Radiation Oncologists and IT staff.

  • Excellent oral communication skills as evidenced from presentations at seminars, conferences or university studies.

  • To be able to critically analyse information and measurement data including a good working knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
